Frequently Asked Questions

If you’ve already booked a holiday with us, or you’re looking to book a holiday, please read some of our frequently asked questions from previous guests, as it may help to free up reception time and prioritise our response time.

Self-Catering

Self catering is only available in Island Cabins, Beachfront Cabins, Putney Place and the Houses. Please require with reception what cooking facilities these room types have.

The Garden and Palm Rooms DO NOT have any cooking facilities, cutlery or crockery available for use.

Arriving at the Island
When you arrive on the island, we will be there to meet the boat with our Hideaway trailer. If you are travelling with Keppel Konnections, please leave your luggage on the boat for our crew to collect and take it to the baggage shed. If you are travelling with another ferry company, please take your luggage off the ferry and our tractor will meet the boat.

If you haven’t visited the island before, please do not hesitate to ask our friendly greet staff for directions. It is only a short stroll up to the path that runs along to the reception area.

Luggage

When you arrive on Great Keppel Island, we will help you with your luggage from the ferry and take it to a baggage shed which is located around the accommodation. You will just need to walk a couple of minutes up the beach to our reception area. Please check-in with our reception team so they can run you through some information and show you where your luggage is. Luggage is fine to leave in the baggage shed till you check into your room.
On departure, bring your luggage to reception and have a chat to our team so we can assist putting it in the correct bay. We will take your luggage to your departing ferry.

Please make sure ALL bags are clearly labelled with your name, especially any grocery bags from Coles and Woolworths as everyone has the same type of bags these days.

Check In/Out

Check is at 2pm however, we do endeavor to get all guests into their room as soon as possible. Our house-keeping team work as quickly and efficiently as possible to get rooms turned around after the 10am check out. Check-out time is 10am, if you were looking for a alter check-out please talk to our reception team. If the room is available, it will be $50.00.

Bore Water

Here on Great Keppel Island we do run off bore water so you’re unable to drink the tap water in your room. Guests are provided with a 20L dispenser of Aussie Gold water in the room, if this runs out we are happy to replace it. Please talk to our team before 2pm to get this replaced.

Groceries

There is not a grocery store on Great Keppel Island so if you are planning to self-cater, you will need to bring everything you require over on the ferry. We can sell basic things such as bread and milk, however this is subject to availability and mostly dependently on our delivery days.

Our reception stocks basic supplies like toiletries if you forget your own.

Cash Out

There is an ATM within the Hideaway bistro, all island businesses accept credit & debit card.

Pets

We do not allow pets in any accommodation

Please be advised that if you are found with pets in any of our accommodation both an excess cleaning fee will be charged, and you will be asked to vacate our accommodation.

Dogs can travel to Great Keppel Island with Keppel Konnections for a small fee. $5.00/small dog & $10.00/large dog. 

Stingers

While the stinger season is most the year, November through till May. Unlike our friends up north, we don’t seem to see them as often. Stinger suits are not compulsory, however feel free to bring them along or hire them from GKI Watersports and Activities.

Cancellations

If you do need to cancel your accommodation, please contact Reception as soon as possible. Any cancellations within 7 days of arrival, will incur a cancellation fee equal to the non-refundable, non-transferable 50% deposit. If cancelling before the 7 day period, we will hold your deposit payments for up to 24 months for a future holiday.
